About Embertales

Stories should remember what you did

Embertales is built around a simple exchange: the story gives you a real situation, you make a choice in your own words, and the world has to live with it.

A tale you can answer

Embertales is an AI text-adventure RPG. You begin with a written story setup and a character, then type what that character tries to do. The Storyteller narrates the result and returns control to you. There is no fixed list of choices and no predetermined route through the plot.

That freedom is the point, but it needs structure. A blank chat box with a fantasy costume is not much of a game. Embertales gives each playthrough a world, an opening situation, people with their own motives, and a record of the facts that should continue to matter.

Why we built it

Traditional interactive fiction is carefully authored but can only anticipate so many actions. An ordinary chatbot accepts almost any action but often loses the shape of the story. We wanted the useful part of both: a world worth entering and the freedom to attempt something nobody placed on a button.

The result is closer to improvisational roleplaying than a branching quiz. Your choice can fail, create a debt, change a relationship, or reveal a route the original setup did not name. The Storyteller should respond to what you actually wrote, not translate it back into the nearest prepared option.

What people write and what AI writes

The story premise, opening, and playable roles establish the ground rules. During play, an AI Storyteller writes new narration in response to the player. Players can also create and publish their own story setups. The selected public catalog is written and checked by Embertales before it is promoted as curated work.

We label the Storyteller as AI inside the reading view because readers should not have to infer that. Public curated story pages show the authored foundation before play begins. They are not transcripts disguised as articles, and they do not pretend that every later scene was written in advance.

Continuity belongs to the playthrough

Every new playthrough is its own version of a tale. Story Notes hold durable facts for that save: companions, promises, discoveries, locations, and other details that should survive a long conversation. Players can see and manage those notes rather than relying on an invisible memory claim.

This separation matters. A character met in one mystery should not wander into an unrelated fantasy story because both happened under the same account. Notes stay with the playthrough where they were created.

How the service is supported

AI narration has a real per-turn cost. Embertales offers a free plan and paid plans with larger monthly credit allowances and additional Storyteller options. The free mobile experience includes advertising. Paid plans remove those ads.

The public website currently explains the product and lets visitors browse selected story setups. It does not change the privacy or ownership of a player's saves. Private play remains account data, and public sharing is controlled separately.

Embertales is the service operator named in the Privacy Policy. Questions, corrections, and support requests can be sent through the Support page.
